President Donald Trump stated Monday morning that the ceasefire arrangement with Iran is \u201con life support,\u201d a day after he rejected a proposal from the country to halt the war. Trump, questioned about the state of the truce, spoke to reporters inside the Oval Office and delivered some brutally honest words about the state of affairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievably weak,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI would call it the weakest right now, after reading that piece of garbage they sent us. I didn\u2019t even finish reading it. I said, \u2018I\u2019m not going to waste my time reading it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump continued, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s on life support,\u201d before turning to Dr. Mehmet Oz, who was standing behind him.<\/p>\n
\u201cDr. Oz, life support is not a good thing, do you agree?\u201d Trump quipped.<\/p>\n
That got a few chuckles from the others in the room. Trump then said the ceasefire was on \u201cmassive life support\u201d and compared it to when \u201ca doctor walks in and says, \u2018Sir, your loved one has approximately a 1% chance of living.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The president also revealed that he is considering renewing \u201cProject Freedom,\u201d but \u201cthis time around the U.S. guiding ships through the Strait of Hormuz would be one small piece of what would be part of a larger military operation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump revealed that Iran specifically stated that only the US or China would be capable of retrieving the \u201cnuclear dust.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIran told me very strongly they intend to give US the nuclear dust. But you\u2019re going to have to take it out, because the site was so obliterated that there\u2019s only one or two countries in the world that could get it. It\u2019s so deep and got hit so hard that there\u2019s no way they have the equipment to move it. You and China are the only two countries in the world that could take it out!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we talked about it, and they said, you\u2019ll have to take it out, because we don\u2019t have the capability of doing it. For those people that like to say that those great pilots in those great planes, well, we just ordered 22 more of them knew and improved, that those great pilots didn\u2019t do their job. They did their job.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course I have a plan \u2014 I have the best plan ever. And Iran has been defeated militarily, totally\u2026 I have a plan: Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s remarks come one day after he said Iran\u2019s proposal to end the war was \u201cTOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.\u201d<\/p>\n
Secretary of State Marco Rubio was challenged Friday on the tenuous ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran after the two sides traded fire one day earlier. The truce seemed rather fragile because the two sides were still fighting, Rubio told a reporter, saying it was because Iran was not obeying the accord.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat you saw yesterday was U.S. destroyers moving through international waters, being fired upon by the Iranians, and the U.S. responded defensively to protect itself,\u201d Rubio said.<\/p>\n
Rubio added, \u201cIf you fire a drone or a missile at our destroyer, what are we supposed to do, let it hit? We have to respond to it. We have to knock down the missile, and we have to knock out whatever it is that launched that missile. The alternative is to let it sink one of our ships. That\u2019s crazy. So, of course, we responded to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump announced last week that \u201cProject Freedom,\u201d the U.S. initiative aimed at ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, will temporarily pause.<\/p>\n
The president announced his decision on Truth Social, citing significant progress made toward a potential agreement with Iran.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on the request of Pakistan and other Countries, the tremendous Military Success that we have had during the Campaign against the Country of Iran, and additionally, the fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran, we have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed,\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
