Yet any nuclear exchange would quickly stop being a \u201cregional\u201d disaster. Winds would carry fallout across borders, while supply chains, power grids, medical systems, and financial networks would transmit chaos nationwide, touching states far from any missile silo.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1861172\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Regions with fewer strategic installations, including much of the Northeast and Southeast, are sometimes labeled \u201clower risk,\u201d but that phrase is dangerously comforting.
