The Department of War is\u00a0gearing up to send thousands of troops<\/a>\u00a0from the Army\u2019s 82nd Infantry Division to deploy to the\u00a0Middle East<\/a>, according to a source familiar with the plan.<\/p>\n

The Pentagon is expected to announce the\u00a0deployment of a 3,000-person brigade combat team<\/a>\u00a0from the elite North Carolina-based unit in support of the\u00a0US and Israel\u2019s war on Iran<\/a>, the Wall Street Journal first reported.<\/p>\n

One of the military\u2019s premier rapid-response forces, the 82nd Airborne is designed to be a rapid-response team able to deploy a battalion within 18 hours \u2014 and a full brigade within 72 hours.<\/p>\n
