We’ve blogged about the Reese/Carter/Clark stuff extensively over the last few days, and if you don’t know what’s going on you live under a rock so I won’t recap it. The top 5 blogs on Barstool last week were all WNBA related and I can confidently guarantee you that it’s the first time that has ever happened in the history of this site. The latest clip is currently going viral right now with Reese talking at media today about how she deserves some of the credit for the growth of the game. Context does matter, and she’s got a point, without the 2023 women’s national championship game, none of this is happening right now. Reese was at the center of that just as much as Clark, and ultimately is a star (albeit not nearly as big of one as CC) in her own right. If you don’t see that then take off the rose-colored glasses.
The major difference here is that Clark obviously comes with a little more humility and doesn’t ever want or pry for the credit of growing the game. But jealousy is a stinky cologne and unfortunately this will do nothing to disspell those rumors. They want to be included so bad. Reese should just continue to play villain and heel at every opportunity because she’s great at it. And I’m not sure how much $1,000 is to her but skipping media obligations yesterday and getting a $1,000 fine and showing up the next day to talk about the exact same thing is peak comedy.
P.S. Shoutout to Chennedy Carter for refusing to apologize for the second straight day for what legitimately everybody is saying was a dirty play. Heel like you read about. That’s how you stay relevant as a nobody in this league.

CHICAGO — While Angel Reese didn’t speak following Saturday’s game, she’s speaking now.
During Saturday’s Chicago Sky vs Indiana Fever game, Sky guard Chennedy Carter gave a shoulder shot to Fever’s Caitlin Clark that knocked her to the floor before an inbound pass during the third quarter.
On Sunday, the WNBA upgraded Carter’s foul to a flagrant-1 violation after reviewing the play.
The league fined Sky rookie forward Angel Reese $1,000 for failing to make herself available to media after Saturday’s game. The Sky were also fined $5,000 for failing to ensure that all players comply with league media policies.
During Monday’s Sky media availability, both Carter and Reese spoke to reporters.
Carter said she has no regrets about Saturday’s game.
“I’m going to compete with anything,” she said. “I’m going to compete and play, 100% hard, no matter who it is. … I don’t know Caitlin. I don’t know her from anywhere. But at the end of the day, this is competitive and this is basketball.”
Reese defended her teammate.
“She’s taken accountability for what happened and we’ve move forward from that,” she said.
But Reese didn’t stop there.
“The reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person,” she said. “It’s because of me, too. I want y’all to realize that.”
