Richard Gere’s Son, Homer, Makes a Public Appearance and Fans Are Split Over Whose Looks He Inherited — Photos
Richard Gere has spent decades in the spotlight, while his oldest son has largely kept a low profile. That has gradually begun to change as the 26-year-old pursues an acting career of his own.
According to Today, Richard Gere and his ex-wife, Carey Lowell, welcomed Homer James Jigme Gere on February 6, 2000, in New York City. The couple married in 2002 after several years together before divorcing in 2016.
The outlet also noted that Homer was named after both sides of his family. His first name honors Richard’s late father, Homer Gere, while his middle name comes from Carey’s father, James Lowell.
Richard has never hidden how much his son means to him. In a 2002 interview with The Guardian, the actor described Homer as “the joy of my life,” adding, “Loves music, very fast runner, very smart. Very funny. Pretty quick he learned irony, which is a wonderful quality for any human being.”
Although Homer spent most of his life outside Hollywood’s spotlight, he has recently begun making a name for himself. The 26-year-old recently appeared at a promotional event for his upcoming project, The Shards, giving fans one of their clearest recent looks at the rising actor.
Videos from the event quickly began circulating online, and before long, fans were discussing something that had little to do with the upcoming series.

The first video showed Homer arriving at The Shards event, greeting attendees and stopping to sign autographs before the conversation online took an unexpected turn. Viewers were then asked whether they saw a resemblance between the young actor and his famous father — and many weren’t convinced.
One commenter wrote, “Not really, he’s cute, but I don’t think he looks any like his dad.” Another said, “Does not look like his father?” A third person commented, “He looks like his mother, but I see zero resemblance to his father.” Someone else added, “Thank goodness for his mother’s genetic good looks.” Another viewer wrote, “He is handsome, more than his father at his age.”
One final commenter shared, “He is very handsome, but he does not look like his father.”

The discussion didn’t end there. A second video from the same The Shards appearance kept the conversation going. This time, Homer was seen continuing to promote the project as fans once again weighed in on which parent they believed he resembled most.
The debate continued in the comments. One social media viewer wrote, “His Mother nothing like Richard.” Another commented, “That facial structure and mouth is all Carey Lowell.” A third person shared, “I think he resembles his mom, Carey Lowell.”
Someone else wrote, “He looks nothing at all like his dad. He resembles his mother much more.” Another commenter added, “Didn’t get daddy’s genes.” One final viewer concluded, “Looks nothing like his dad but he is very handsome.”
While many viewers agreed that Homer resembles his mother more than his father, others admired his appearance and were excited to see him stepping further into the spotlight. Outside the debate over his looks, Homer has also been building a career of his own. According to IMDb, the 26-year-old actor is known for The Shards (2026) and Euphoria (2019).
His growing résumé has also brought more public appearances alongside Richard. E! News reported that Homer joined his father at the Cannes and Venice film festivals before later attending the New York premiere of The Agency with Richard and his wife, Alejandra Silva.
Earlier this year, Homer also drew attention for landing a role on HBO’s Euphoria. As E! News reported, he called filming the series “jumping into the deep end in a really cool way,” describing it as his first real experience on a television set.
Over the years, Homer made only a handful of public appearances with his father, Richard Gere, offering occasional glimpses into their life together before stepping further into the spotlight himself.
