Another clip shifted attention to a different moment during the funeral. According to the caption, the service had reached the three-hour mark when Trump appeared to take out a pack of Tic Tacs while seated beside Vance.
The footage showed Trump placing a mint in his mouth before extending the pack toward Vance. Vance smiled as he looked down toward Trump’s hand, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, seated on Vance’s other side, also appeared to smile during the brief exchange.
On Facebook, a viewer wrote, “Looks like the service hadn’t even started. I think we’ve all done that.” Another shared, “Kinda nice he offered one to JD, I’m not a big fan of either of them but this is a nice moment.” A third remarked, “What a shock! .”

According to Fox News Digital, a White House spokesperson said that the First Lady was unable to attend the correspondents’ dinner due to a prior commitment. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio also missed the dinner for the same reason.

According to NPR, dozens of members of Congress, Cabinet officials, and other prominent figures attended Lindsey Graham’s funeral, underscoring his influence during decades in public office.

Among those in attendance was Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, whom Graham had strongly defended during his Senate confirmation process. Several of Graham’s longtime staff members also served as honorary pallbearers.
The media outlet also reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the service, reflecting Graham’s longstanding support for both countries and his interventionist approach to foreign policy.

During a July 13 news conference outside his office at the South Carolina State House in Columbia, the governor called the decision both his duty and an honor, according to the Associated Press (AP).
McMaster opened the announcement by reflecting on Graham’s legacy, calling him an “irreplaceable” and “extraordinary” public servant. He then hinted that the person chosen to succeed him shared a lifelong connection with the late senator.

Moments later, McMaster announced that Graham’s younger sister, Darline Graham Nordone, had been chosen to serve the remainder of his Senate term. “It’s my honor to ask his little sister, Darline Graham, to finish his work for him now,” McMaster said.
Nordone is expected to serve until the term ends in January 2027. Senate Majority Leader John Thune also said the swearing-in would take place Tuesday afternoon.
The New Appointee Promised to Continue Lindsey Graham’s Work
In her first public remarks, Nordone remembered her brother, calling him “the most amazing person, outstanding leader and just a genuinely good man.”
She said he devoted his life to serving South Carolina and the United States, working tirelessly on behalf of the people he represented. She then shifted her focus from remembrance to the work that lies ahead.

“It is such a privilege to get to finish some of his important work,” Nordone said, according to AP. “I promise to work hard over the next several months to support the president and carry forward the efforts of my brother on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina and the United States.”

According to the media outlet, Nordone becomes the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate, making McMaster’s deeply personal choice a milestone for the state’s political history as well.
The President’s Endorsement Came Before the Governor Made His Decision
In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump said he had recommended Graham’s “wonderful sister” to McMaster, calling the appointment “a fabulous tribute to Lindsey,” whom he said “loved her dearly.”
The recommendation quickly drew support from Senator Tim Scott.
On X, Scott expressed support for Nordone’s appointment, writing that after speaking with her, he believed she best understood Graham’s love for his family, South Carolina, and the country.
Nordone has never held elected office. As reported by Fox News, she is a mother of two who previously worked in vocational rehabilitation, helping people with disabilities find employment across South Carolina.
Lindsey Graham Had Already Shared Why He Trusted His Sister
After both of their parents died less than a year apart, Graham became his younger sister’s legal guardian while still in his early 20s. The loss brought the siblings even closer, with Graham taking on the role of both brother and caregiver.
During his 2015 presidential campaign, Graham reflected on that bond in an interview with C-SPAN. He said watching his sister build a successful life after losing both parents at age 13 remained “the highlight” of his own life.
