Bad Bunny Halftime Show Triggers Super Bowl Boycott From President Donald Trump

I don’t know who[Bad Bunny] is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s [choosing Bad Bunny to perform at the Super Bowl] absolutely ridiculous.

Trump declared

The feeling is mutual. Bad Bunny doesn’t like Trump or his party’s views on immigrants. As a form of protest, he chose to host his show in his hometown of Puerto Rico rather than on the mainland. In an interview with I-D Magazine, the 31-year-old singer and musician said that the presence of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) was a major reason for excluding the US from his tour plans.

People from the U.S. could come here [in Puerto Rico] to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, [expletive] ICE could be outside.

Kristi Noem, of the Department of Homeland Security, has confirmed that a battalion of ICE soldiers will be present outside Levi’s Stadium on February 8.

I have the responsibility for making sure that everybody [who] goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave. And that’s what America is about.
