The Philadelphia Eagles escaped with a thrilling 24-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans on a scorching Sunday afternoon in Nashville. Entering Nissan Stadium as heavy favorites, the Eagles faced a much stiffer challenge than anyone initially anticipated.
The Titans’ relentless defense repeatedly rattled quarterback Jalen Hurts, sacking him three times and intercepting him twice. Jeffery Simmons was a major reason he was taking so much heat.
A late lead at Nissan Stadium lasted about as long as the gesture that followed it. Jeffery Simmons turned toward Eagles fans, grabbed himself, and yelled an explicit line after Tennessee went up 20-17.
Things felt very good at the time that he did that. However, it would not last long.
A few minutes later, Jalen Hurts hit Darius Cooper from three yards out with nine seconds left. The final was 24-20, and the same defender was on the field offering congratulations.

Tennessee Titans star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons delivered a dominant individual performance despite his team’s heartbreaking 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The four-time Pro Bowl selection terrorized Philadelphia’s interior offensive line throughout Sunday’s steamy matchup in Nashville.
Simmons consistently disrupted the pocket, recording six combined tackles, three quarterback hits, and a critical sack. Furthermore, he generated one tackle for loss while consistently forcing Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to scramble under intense pressure. His relentless interior pass rush initially helped Tennessee limit the highly explosive Philadelphia offense for much of the second half.
Following the painful final whistle, a deeply disappointed Simmons reflected heavily on his defensive unit’s missed opportunities. Simmons lamented the close finish, stating, “We knew if we came into this game and affected the quarterback, which we did a lot tonight, we knew we had a chance.”
