VIDEO: Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Insults His Own Defense With Brutal 5-Word Comment Before Dropping The Mic And Walking Out Of Press Conference

Philadelphia star quarterback Jalen Hurts took a friendly albeit hilarious shot at the Eagles defense during his press conference on Wednesday.

Per Andrew Porter of 94WIP.com, Jalen Hurts had an impressive streak end at practice on Wednesday when All-pro cornerback Darius Slay intercepted his pass attempt. With the pick, Hurts’ streak of consecutive training camp pass attempts without an interception was snapped at 305.

After the practice ended, Slay joked to reporters that he “baited” his quarterback ad that he knows “how to bait Hurts,” via Porter. But when it was his turn to speak, Hurts got the last laugh with an epic mic drop.

“I told him ‘About time,’” Hurts said.

Well, Hurts was better off throwing that interception to a teammate in practice instead a regular season game. So it’s good that he got it out of his system before the Eagles open their season against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 6 in São Paulo, Brazil.

On the flip side, the Eagles can only hope that Darius Slay brings those ball-hawking skills back to the field when the real games begin. The six-time Pro Bowler has 28 career interceptions and 147 pass breakups.

The 33-year-old Slay earned his sixth Pro Bowl selection in 2023, recording two picks and 14 pass breakups. The veteran standout was one of the few positives for an Eagles team that lost five of their final six regular season games before bowing out to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round.

Jalen Hurts Aims To Rebound From Inconsistent 2023 Season

At first glance, Hurts’ 2023 stat line was far from what you would call “terrible.” But his production dropped considerably from a 2022 campaign that saw Hurts finish second in MVP voting behind only Patrick Mahomes.

Head coach Nick Sirianni fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and replaced him with Kellen Moore, previously the OC for the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers.
