The Chicago Sky have earned themselves one of the best rebounding players in the WNBA, and she is still only a rookie. Angel Reese averages 12.6 rebounds per game and holds the record for consecutive 20-rebound games.
While the Sky forward is playing at this world level on the glass, her offensive struggles have been a glaring weakness up to this point, and opposing teams are taking advantage of the rookie’s shortcomings.
Reese struggled Friday night as the Chicago Sky took on the Connecticut Sun, especially regarding her shooting. She went only 3-of-12, a measly 25% from the field, even though the Sun allowed tons of open looks, causing her to finish on her rebounds.
The WNBA star may have struggled. However, that didn’t stop the young forward from taunting opposing players when she did get points. After missing her initial shot, Reese scored on a rebound, which prompted her to taunt 5-time all-star Alyssa Thomas with the “too small” gesture.
Angel Reese Is Struggling Offensively During Rookie Season
Reese’s taunting attempt fell flat because of her horrible shooting percentage. She struggled on offense throughout the game and played a big part in her squad’s loss after they fell to 11-17.
Reese’s glaring struggles may force teams to allow her to embarrass herself, but odds are she will get better as she goes on. Her strong rookie season is seeing her average 13.6 points a game while scoring fourth on the team.
Fans can see her in action as she gets better throughout the season. The Sky will play the Las Vegas Aces, who have a 17-11 record, on Sunday.
