Devin White’s opportunity to revive his career with the Philadelphia Eagles has ended abruptly
On Tuesday afternoon, the Eagles announced that they have released Devin White from his contract. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star signed a one-year deal worth $4 million in free agency.
White was inactive for the Eagles’ first four games of 2024. Following their Week 5 bye, the coaching staff and GM Howie Roseman ultimately decided there was no use for the 2019 fifth-overall pick.

Devin White spent his first five NFL seasons with the Buccaneers and looked like a future superstar early. In his 2020 sophomore season, he led the Bucs to a Super Bowl 55 championship and earned a Second-team All-Pro nod.
Devin White is gone.
The Eagles released the unhappy former 1st-rd pick with an agreement where he’s not subject to waivers & in exchange for that he gave the Eagles financial concessions to erase some dead money.

Despite a lackluster stat line in 2021 (3.5 sacks, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery), White was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2021. The Bucs went 13-4 and won the NFC South for the first time in 14 years, though they were ousted by the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.
Over his first five NFL Seasons, Devin White recorded three interceptions, 21 pass breakups, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries and 23 sacks.
Devin White Is Entering “Draft Bust” Territory
White may have played a pivotal role in helping Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl in 2020, but the Bucs expected far more from the LSU product.
White and Lavonte David were a beast of a linebacker tandem from 2019 to 2020, and then the former’s play inexplicably regressed after the Super Bowl championship. White couldn’t even get a snap during his short stint with the Eagles, and it’s not too early to wonder if this might be the beginning of the end of his NFL career.
