Football fans are teeing off on Cris Collinsworth for making something up during the Dallas Cowboys–San Francisco 49ers “Sunday Night Football” game.
Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico were on the call for the marquee showdown between the two longtime NFC rivals tonight. But during the first half, Collinsworth made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Collinsworth was praising 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy for hanging in the pocket and completing a pass to rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. Collinsworth stated that Purdy was “gonna get drilled on this one…knew he was gonna get hit” on the play.
But as you can see on the replay, Purdy wasn’t hit on the play at all:
"What a great play by Purdy on this one. He is gonna get drilled on this one… Purdy has just hung in there. He saw it coming, he knew he was gonna get hit." – Cris Collinsworth on Brock Purdy, who does not appear to have been touched on the play pic.twitter.com/eOtAy9M8Zo
