The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly trading for Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, following owner and GM Jerry Jones’s promise to fans that the team would be signing a wideout they “really like” ahead of today’s deadline.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys are set to add Mingo and have gotten a seventh-round pick along with him in exchange for a fourth-rounder.

“Panthers are trading WR Jonathan Mingo to the Cowboys, per sources,” Schefter reported on Tuesday morning.

Jonathan Mingo Will Hope To Kickstart His Career In Dallas

Mingo, a second-round pick by the Panthers in 2023, hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in the NFL. He was expected to have a productive rookie season in Carolina, but his performances weren’t up to standard, as he registered a low reception percentage and zero touchdowns in his first year.

Mingo hasn’t added any touchdowns this season, having made 12 catches for 121 receiving yards so far as he has been somewhat limited.

It’s hoped that he could spur his career with the Cowboys, who have looked at wideouts in past drafts and are now bringing in a young player with plenty of upside to add to a receiver room boasting the likes of CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks.
