While the Washington Commanders dominated the majority of the game against the New Orleans Saints, they allowed the home team to climb out of a 17-0 hole and nearly allowed them to erase a 13-point fourth quarter deficit.
They got zero help from the refs.
The Saints got the ball back, down by seven points, with 1:55 left.
Spencer Rattler, who took over at quarterback for starter Jake Haener, drove the team down the field and allowed them to tie or walk off with a win against the Washington Commanders.
Facing a fourth-and-three from the Commanders’ eight-yard line, Rattler completed a short pass to tight end Foster Moreau.
This is inexcusable in pro football.
The Saints got 3.94 “free” seconds today, and it very nearly cost the #Commanders the win.
The clock stopped at the 9 second mark, and they snapped the ball at the 4 second mark.

The Saints benifitd as they were able to spike the ball. They would then score, but instead of tying the game, they went for the win over the Washington Commanders.
Luckily, they did not convert, and Washington won the game.
It stopped what would’ve been a terrible loss that they did not deserve.
Refs Admit to Nearly Game-Changing Mistake That Almost Cost The Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders beat the New Orleans Saints 20-19 in Week 15.
The Saints scored a touchdown on the final play of regulation to put themselves in position to go for two. That never should’ve happened since a ref stopped the clock on their second-to-last play.
Referee Shawn Hochuli was asked about the clock stoppage after the game and confirmed that the clock should not have stopped.
Unfortunately, that play was not reviewable.
