VIDEO: Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty Takes Shot At Colorado WR Travis Hunter After Losing Out On Heisman In Extremely Close Vote

Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty couldn’t help but throw some shade at Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter after the latter was named the Heisman Trophy winner

In what was the closest Heisman Trophy vote in 15 years, Travis Hunter claimed the Heisman Trophy honrs over Ashton Jeanty, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Miami QB Cameron Ward.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Jeanty took a bit of a shot at Hunter by stating that he should have won the prestigious award over the Buffaloes two-way phenom, per ESPN:

“I really felt like I should’ve walked away with the award, but kudos to Travis for winning. But yeah, it’s simple as that. Work harder, go harder.”

In most other years, Ashton Jeanty’s phenomenal 2024 season (2,497 yards and 29 touchdowns) would easily land him the Heisman Trophy. But Hunter’s historic two-way season was just too much for voters to ignore, and understandably so.

Hunter caught 92 passes for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he had 11 pass breakups and four interceptions.

Ashton Jeanty Should Be A First-Round Pick In 2025

NFL running backs are hardly early first-round picks these days, but as Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs have shown, an RB is worth rolling the dice on if he lands with the right offensive system.

Jeanty feels like a safe bet to be a top-20 pick, with many naturally linking him to the RB-needy Dallas Cowboys. After all, Dallas hit the jackpot when they took Ezekiel Elliott fourth overall in 2026
