Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has knocked back the notion that Jalen Hurts is being carried by his teammates.
The NFC East side is headed back to the Super Bowl after a blowout win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, with Hurts completing 20 of 28 attempts for 246 yards and a touchdown. Hurts, who did not turn the ball over, also punched in three rushing scores on 10 carries while playing through a knee injury.
Sirianni had special praise for the quarterback while speaking to reporters after the game.
The Eagles HC also claimed to be confused over the criticism his quarterback constantly faces despite being solid under center since becoming a starter.
“How about our quarterback? He’s a stud,”he said. “I knew he was going to play that way. I knew it. Don’t doubt him. All he does is win.”

Nick Sirianni Defends Jalen Hurts From Unfair Claims
Hurts’ success with the Eagles is in part due to the excellent crop of players he has around him, with the team boasting a formidable offensive line, two of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and arguably the best running back in the league.
“Winning at quarterback is more important than any stat that you go through,” he added. “I’m sure it’ll be the same thing. ‘Oh, he’s got great players around him.’ Well, you tell me a quarterback that’s won like this that has s— around him. It doesn’t happen, right? Talk about [Hall of Fame QB] Joe Montana. Who is he throwing to? Oh, [Hall of Fame WR] Jerry Rice. So, these guys have been so good at this position and have had great players around them.
“Whether it’s [former NFL QB Tom] Brady with the defense early on in his career or [former NFL WR Julian] Edelman or [former NFL TE Rob Gronkowski] Gronk. I mean, you don’t win in this game unless you have great players around you. You don’t win consistently unless you have great players around you.”

Hurts has led the Eagles to at least 12 wins and a playoff spot every season since Sirianni was appointed in 2021. Speaking on Sunday night, the coach made it clear that he doesn’t want any other QB leading the team.
“I don’t want anyone else leading us other than Jalen Hurts,” he declared. “I’m proud of the way he went out there and battled today and played today.
“He doesn’t care about anything other than winning, and I know that and that’s selfless.”
Hurts will have an opportunity to add “Super Bowl champion” to his list of accomplishments next month. But the Kansas City Chiefs, desperate to become three-peat champs, will be standing in his way.
