Delta Air Lines Releases New Info On Captain And First Officer Plane That Crashed And Flipped Over In Toronto

Delta Air Lines is now pushing back against the onslaught of social media rumors and “misleading assertions” about the crew aboard Flight 4819.

The airliner was operated by its subsidiary Endeavor Air, which crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport.

The flight’s captain was hired in 2007 by Mesaba Airlines and served as an active duty captain and in pilot training and safety capacities, according to the airline. Over the year, he served as an active-duty captain and contributed to pilot training and flight safety.

Endeavor Air was created after Mesaba Airlines merged with Pinnacle Airlines in 2012.

The first officer joined Endeavor Air in January 2024 and completed her training in April.

“Assertions that she failed training events are false. Assertions that he failed to flow into a pilot position at Delta Air Lines due to training failures are also false,” the airline said in a statement last Thursday.

Delta Air Connection Flight 4819, from Minneapolis to Toronto, made a hard landing as it burst into fire and lost a wing. The plane would then flip onto its roof at Toronto’s airport.

Twenty-one people were injured, but all 80 people on board survived the crash.

Delta emphasized that “her flight experience exceeded the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Federal regulations.”

The airline reiterated that both the captain and first officer were qualified and FAA-certified for their roles.

The Delta/Endeavor plane that crashed in Canada was allegedly piloted by Kendal Michelle Swanson; at least, that is what social media figured out.

Unverified sources claim the 26-year-old was piloting the Delta plane that crashed upside down in Toronto.

“The pilot who landed the plane upside down at the Toronto Pearson Airport is a 26-year-old female who just got certified as an Airline transport pilot last month. I KNEW IT! DEI strikes again!” a post stated on X while providing a picture of the young lady.

Delta has yet to come out with the names to confirm anything.
