The comedian has previously spoken about her Cushing’s syndrome diagnosis
Amy Schumer has detailed the true reason for her weight loss after the internet horrifically trolled the actor for her appearance.
The comedian has spoken out about her Cushing’s syndrome diagnosis, which is a condition resulting from prolonged exposure to high levels of the hormone cortisol.
“I want so much for women to love themselves and be relentless when fighting for their own health in a system that usually doesn’t believe them,” she said in a previous Instagram video.
Symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome include skin that bruises quickly, having more body fat on your neck and shoulders, thin arms and legs, and a round face, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Some have linked steroid injections to people developing Cushing’s Syndrome, something which Schumer revealed she’d been having after having treatment to help with her breast reduction and C-section scars.

Schumer went on to share on the Call Her Daddy podcast: “So I got these was getting these steroid injections and so it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome — which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard.”
The 44-year-old has since provided fans with a further health update and how that’s impacted her weight loss journey.
Schumer said that despite reports, she lost 50 pounds rather than 30 and said she doesn’t get Botox or filler.
She said she lost the weight ‘not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary’, adding ‘I did it to survive’.
Referencing her Cushing’s Syndrome, the actor added: “I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it, and the disease has cleared.”
The revelation was made on an overlay of a video filmed by her son Gene, whom she shares with husband Chris Fischer.
The clip began with Schumer lounging in her bed, before Gene provided an insight into the family home, including going in various family homes.
Schumer went on to say she is using Mounjaro and that she’s had plastic surgery ‘over the years’.
“Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight,” she continued. “Sorry to anyone that lets down.”
The Trainwreck actor also addressed in the Instagram post speculation surrounding her marriage to Fischer.
“Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote, amid her partner’s autism diagnosis.
“Fingers crossed we can make it through, he’s the best.”
