Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Has Violated His Probation, Sentenced To Jail

Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is going to jail.

After a tumultuous first three years in the NFL, it got even worse this offseason for him. Rice tested positive for THC, according to Dallas County court documents, a violation of his probation. This stems from charges related to a multi-car crash in Dallas more than two years ago.

Rice caused a six-car pileup in March 2024 by speeding a leased Lamborghini and a Corvette over (115) mph on a Dallas freeway. Following the wreckage, Rice and other occupants fled and left injured victims behind without checking on them. Police discovered marijuana in Rice’s Lamborghini. Following an investigation, arrest warrants were issued, and Rice ultimately turned himself in to the Dallas Police Department.

Rice was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 season as a result of that situation. Now, he is going to serve 30 days in jail and be released on June 16, per NBC. Rice was taken into custody after he tested positive for THC.

Per Matt Foster on X, this means Rice will miss Chiefs OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

After serving his suspension last season, Rashee Rice caught 53 passes for 571 yards and five touchdowns. The Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the postseason for the first time since 2014.

Rashee Rice Has Been Trouble Before

Being in trouble is nothing new for Rashee Rice.

In February, Rice was sued by his alleged assault victim. Dacoda Jones claimed in the Instagram post that she “dealt with abuse for years.” She added that following the breakup between “me and this man,” she has been dealing with “nothing but hell.”

That lawsuit is still ongoing.
