5 NFL stars set up for huge paydays in 2025 feat. Tee Higgins, Garrett Wilson and more

The 2024 free agency class for the NFL was pretty big, and teams have spent a lot during the offseason. In March, the New York Giants led the league in spending with $187.5 million (and $114 million in guarantees). In terms of individual money, Justin Jefferson got paid $35 million per year, Kirk Cousins got $45 million and Trevor Lawrence got $55 million in salary.

More big-name stars are set to hit free agency next year, and some of them could sign for a lot of money. Here are the players slated to break the bank in the coming year

NFL stars set to get paid in 2025 free agency

5) Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson will be paid well at some point

Garrett Wilson isn’t going to be a free agent in 2025, but the New York Jets would be foolish not to extend him next offseason. He has been a premier talent without a reliable quarterback throwing him the ball. His value might skyrocket with a full season of Aaron Rodgers, but he’s the sort of player the Jets can’t ill afford to let walk in free agency.

4) Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson will get paid, probably by the Panthers

Diontae Johnson is very talented and still pretty young, but that’s not the primary reason he’s going to be paid well. The Carolina Panthers brought him in to give Bryce Young the help he needs out wide.

When the offense, and Young, plays better this season, the Panthers will recognize the impact of Johnson and might overpay him to keep Young’s top target around. If not, he will still reap the rewards of being a top wide receiver in free agency.

3) Cam Robinson

Cam Robinson will be paid well

One of the only top left tackles hitting free agency next season, Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson will be paid handsomely. It’s one of the most important positions on offense and he’s the best option in free agency in 2025. He’s also still pretty young, so he should get a nice long-term contract from some team with a high salary.

2) Tee Higgins

Tee Higgins will be paid a lot next year

Tee Higgins didn’t want the franchise tag from the Cincinnati Bengals, but he might benefit from it. The wide receiver market continues to boom thanks to Justin Jefferson, and other players like CeeDee Lamb could reset it further in the next year. That will only add value to the long-term contract Higgins signs next offseason, so the tag might be a short-term loss for a long-term gain.

1) Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott will be paid next year

Whether it’s from the Dallas Cowboys or someone else, Dak Prescott is going to get paid. Barring a horrific season in 2024, the star quarterback is likely to get at least $40 million a season if not more. The quarterback market is unbelievably expensive right now, and Prescott is set to reap the rewards of that from whoever signs him to a contract.
