New York Giants fans are understandably worried following news of wide receiver Malik Nabers sustaining an injury in practice.
The former LSU star is said to have limped off the training pitch on Sunday morning, having suffered an apparent foot injury.
According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the rookie wideout removed his left shoe and limped off. Three staff members attended to him thereafter.
“Nabers was reaching down and touching the top outside of his left foot,” Leonard reported.
It’s understood Nabers was moving “very slowly” when he got up.
Malik Nabers Impressed During Training Camp
Malik Nabers had an impressive training camp for the Giants and was one of the most exciting players to watch. He was also involved in one of the more entertaining practice fights of the offseason.
Despite his excellence in camp, he wasn’t targeted during the team’s preseason win over the Detroit Lions on Thursday. Drew Lock opted not to throw him the ball, although he was getting open.
“It felt good to be back on the football field, playing a real game,” he said after the game. “We had a plan. I wasn’t sure if I was playing. I did a very good job of getting open, but everything has to go my way to get the ball.
“It was kind of slippery out there. I think I could’ve done a better job of creating separation, getting better looks for the QB to throw the ball in better spots. That’s all I can do — continue to do what I do.”
Fans will be holding their breath over this latest development. We’re with them in hoping it’s nothing serious.
