The football star quietly secured a century-old retreat near the city that raised him, but nothing outside prepares visitors for the jaw-dropping beauty waiting beyond its front doors.
Travis Kelce purchased the Bratenahl, Ohio, estate in March 2026, several months before marrying Taylor Swift and long before news of the deal emerged on September 1. Set beside Lake Erie, the extraordinary property combines the privacy the newlyweds crave with rooms so sumptuous that even locals accustomed to luxury have been left marveling.
A Quiet Homecoming Years in the Making
The $5.35 million purchase brings Travis within a few miles of Cleveland Heights, where he and his brother, Jason Kelce, grew up. His new village sits along Lake Erie’s southern shore, close to Cleveland and conveniently near a private airport.
Bratenahl is an affluent enclave where enormous houses disappear behind mature trees. Homes in the village had a median sale price of $490,000 during the three months ending July 31, making Travis’ latest purchase especially grand even by local standards.
Property records cited by The Wall Street Journal show that Figurati Construction Group, owned by Gary Pellegrino, acquired the residence for $1.95 million in 2023. After an extensive renovation, the home was listed for $6.99 million in 2024 before its asking price dropped to $5.99 million.
Travis ultimately secured it for considerably less. David Ayers and Nick Zawitz of The Agency Cleveland represented both sides of the sale and shared their delight in a statement released through their team.
“We’re thrilled for the new owners and so excited for Cleveland,” the agents said. Behind the gates waits a property so gloriously extravagant that calling it a house almost feels inadequate.
Every Room Offers Something Else to Gush Over
Built around 1895, the approximately 21,000-square-foot mansion stands on 3.5 acres at the water’s edge. Its brick exterior, steep gables, slate roof, and wooded setting give it the romance of an old European manor transplanted to Ohio.

Even the drive toward the house is special. An aerial view reveals a curving motor court shaped like a heart, sweeping through the manicured lawn before reaching the paved front courtyard.
For Taylor and Travis, it feels almost ridiculously perfect. Yet that romantic detail has plenty of competition once the front doors open.

The entrance hall is pure Gilded Age drama. Imported walnut and oak cover the walls in elaborate carvings, while coffered beams and ornate friezes turn the woodwork into art. A grand divided staircase rises through the center, with sculpted lions guarding its base.

The photographs shared by Maison McDoll reveal cut-glass leaded windows scattering prismatic light across the rooms. Elsewhere, leaded-glass French doors and a vaulted grid ceiling filled with decorative glass make another sunlit space feel almost magical.

Its moody cocktail bar may be one of the most handsome spaces of all. Exposed brick, dark wood, tartan walls, industrial pendant lights, and plush green velvet barstools create the sort of intimate hideaway guests may never want to leave.

Outside, a stone terrace steps down to a wet-set bluestone patio surrounding a heated swimming pool. Cushioned wicker loungers and navy umbrellas face Lake Erie, with the open water stretching beyond the beautifully kept grounds.

The view is breathtaking. Even the guest accommodations are dreamy. The estate’s original gatehouse was restored and converted into a separate two-bedroom cottage, allowing friends or relatives to stay steps away from the main residence while enjoying a place of their own.
A year-long renovation restored original door hardware and renewed nearly every part of the property. A Control4 smart-home system was also integrated throughout, bringing the 19th-century beauty firmly into modern life. Here are more photos:

Cleveland Promises Privacy With a Hint of Excitement
Taylor and Travis will have neighbors nearby, but residents believe the couple can still enjoy something increasingly rare in their lives: the freedom to live without being constantly watched.
An area source told Page Six that celebrities have lived locally without being disturbed. The source pointed to former Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James as proof that even a hugely recognizable resident can be left alone there.
“They will have privacy,” the source said. “LeBron James lived here in his prime and nobody bothered. It’s the Cleveland charm.” That promise has not dampened the neighborhood’s excitement, however.
Residents are already imagining the possibility of spotting Taylor at the Shoreby Club, a nearby yacht club. “Everybody would love their grandkids to spot her at Shoreby Club,” the source said.
Cleveland Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam also live nearby, while Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson previously spent time in the area. Bratenahl is clearly accustomed to famous residents, although Taylor and Travis could still bring a new level of attention.

The larger mystery is whether the newlyweds, who already own multiple properties, plan to use the Ohio mansion regularly. Locals are curious whether it might host celebrity gatherings similar to Taylor’s famed Fourth of July celebrations, whose previous guests have included Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, and Cara Delevingne.
There is also curiosity about whether Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will renovate the mansion again. One source cheekily called it a “modest old home” for the neighborhood, despite its recent transformation and extraordinary size.
That description is difficult to square with 21,000 square feet, eight bedroom suites, a former ballroom, two bars, and a private guest cottage. Fans examining the photographs were far less restrained, especially when they spotted the heart waiting outside.
Fans Cannot Stop Talking About the Heart
On Facebook, one commenter looked at the elaborate driveway and humorously asked, “But does it have a basketball hoop in the driveway?” Another was convinced the heart-shaped design sealed the deal, writing, “It’s was that heart shaped driveway that did it [sic]!”
A third imagined Taylor seeing the aerial photograph and immediately falling in love with the estate: “I guarantee you Taylor saw that aerial view and told him ‘we have to get it, the driveways kind of the shape of a heart [sic].'”

The conversation continued on Instagram, where one person argued that the neighborhood had already proven its ability to protect prominent residents. They said, “Tristan Thompson lived over here and the Kardashians were in and out and you heard nothing, Royalty from UAE too… it’s safe.”
Someone else suspected Travis was the driving force behind the Ohio purchase, writing, “Travis definitely pushed for this because I can’t imagine Cleveland tempting Taylor.” Another admirer needed only one breathless sentence to capture the general mood: “Good lord it’s stunning, so much character [sic].”
It truly is. With its carved wood, jewel-like windows, lakeside pool, inviting entertainment rooms, and almost impossibly romantic driveway, Travis found a magnificent retreat with an old soul near the place where his own story began.
