Aaron Hernandez is back, but this time in a very different way.

Ryan Murphy has gone from American Horror to American Crime and now to American Sports.

The story of the former New England Patriots tight end turned convicted murderer has all three elements packed into one, and we are now getting a taste of what is to come.

“American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” takes us through the journey of Hernandez, who ended up wasting his multi-million dollar career when he decided he was going to murder a man, get tried for a double-murder, and get found not guilty, only for him to commit suicide in his jail cell in 2017.

He was 27 years old.

On Wednesday, a trailer dropped for the show that shows Josh Rivera starring as the late Patriots tight end.

According to FX, the series is based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. and “charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.”

Aaron Hernandez Went From Signing A Historic Contract To Killing Someone The Following Year To Being Convicted of Murder

Former star tight end for the New England Patriots Aaron Hernandez once signed a five-year, $39.58 million contract extension that included $15.95 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $12.50 million, which, according to Wikipedia, was the largest signing bonus ever received by an NFL tight end.

That was in 2012.

The following year, Hernandez murdered Odin Lloyd.

In 2015, Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder, as well as five weapon charges, which required a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

After being found not guilty of a double murder he was accused of, he would commit suicide in prison.
