The Bears allowed HBO to show players getting cut and players making the team and practice squad in the final episode of the season. It was a tearjerker as fans had to watch Ryan Poles speak with Adrian Colbert.

It was cutdown day at Halas Hall, and the Chicago Bears general manager really had to have a moment when he met with safety Adrian Colbert to tell him the dream of playing for the Bears was ending.

The 30-year-old Colbert was a fan favorite on the show, but the team ultimately cut him. As of Wednesday morning, he remains a free agent.

In that last episode, it truly showed how hard it is for front office personnel to make cuts on guys they have built relationships with over the past few weeks to months.

Poles was noticeably overcome with emotion when Colbert walked into his office as he had to step away to contain himself after they hugged.

“You know, you don’t really find many places like that. Everybody wants you to be the same; everybody wants you to be exactly like the next person. This place has allowed me to really be me. I think that alone has allowed me to thrive on the field and off the field,” Adrian Colbert told Poles.

He also praised the Bears organization, saying it’s “become the favorite of all the places I’ve been that allowed me to find that love for the game.”

Colbert has since played for six teams, including the 49ers, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and the Bears. He signed with Chicago in 2022, per Wikipedia.

‘Hard Knocks’ Episode 4 Told Story of Adrian Colbert

Each season, a team’s training camp is featured on the HBO docuseries, which follows players who may or may not make the team.

The Chicago Bears being on it this year meant there would be a ton of action from Caleb Williams, but safety Adrian Colbert ended up stealing the show.

The fourth episode of “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Chicago Bears” was emotional, as Colbert shared an emotional story about one “close call” when he was a kid.

When he was a kid, he was riding his bike in the street and was hit by a car going 55 miles per hour.

That accident left Adrian Colbert in a coma for two weeks, and he was told by his doctors that he’d never play football again.

He defied all odds and made it to the NFL.
