Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has made a massive announcement regarding Arch Manning, which many fans had been waiting for.

Sarkisian has confirmed that the quarterback will start against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday after replacing Quinn Ewers once the latter went down injured vs. UTSA on the weekend.

Ewers, who has since been upgraded from week-to-week to day-to-day, is not ready to play in Week 4, leaving Manning free to make his first start as a college signal-caller.

Arch Manning Has Enjoyed A Stellar Week

Manning, who comes from a line of superstar QBs, had an impressive outing against the Roadrunners last weekend, earning himself SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors, with Sarkisian signing his p”’raises as well.

“You never know, as a backup, when you’re going to get put in the game. For [Manning] to come in on his first play to hit DeAndre Moore for the touchdown. On his third play — we’re in a little different style of offense when he’s in there — the little zone read, to pull it and the explosive play,” the head coach said, per On3.

“I love the post throw to Ryan Wingo for the for the long touchdown. The big corner route to Ryan. He threw a beautiful kind of slot fade to Johntay Cook for a touchdown. He did some nice things for us and extended some drives on third downs. So that was a great experience for him that he got.”

Manning was one of the most-hyped coming into college last season but remained glued to the bench, playing behind both Ewers and Maalik Murphy in 2023. He has moved up to the QB2 position this season and is now set to show what he can do as the prime option.
