The Chicago Bears are on the verge of pulling off a big trade ahead of the league new year, acquiring veteran guard Jonah Jackson to bolster their offensive line
Per ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, the Bears have acquired Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick. The trade will become official once the new league year begins on March 12 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
Jonah Jackson was limited to four games in 2024 because of injuries. The trade comes one year after Los Angeles signed the former Detroit Lion to a three-year deal worth $51 million in free agency.
Jackson apparently became expendable after the defending NFC West division champions managed to retain pending free agent and left tackle Alaric Jackson on a three-year worth $57 million.
Bears are in the process of trading for Jonah Jackson and sending a 2025 6th to the Los Angeles Rams. One major need on the OL is addressed before free agency begins. Jackson played center, left guard and right guard last year and was limited to 4 games due to a shoulder injury. https://t.co/UWWUj2X26i

Addressing the offensive line is one of Chicago’s main offseason goals, as rookie quarterback Caleb Williams took a league-leading 68 sacks (tied for the third-most sacks taken in a single year).
Getting Jackson at a bargain price is a tidy piece of business by general manager Ryan Poles, but there’s more work to do on the offensive line front. Fortunately, he still has free agency and the draft to explore further upgrades.
Jonah Jackson Trade Is A Win-Win For Both Teams

Jackson didn’t get much of an opportunity to prove himself in Los Angeles, but the trade still feels like a win for all parties involved. Jackson gets the chance to shore up a leaky Bears o-line that has little outside of 2023 first-round pick and budding star Darnell Wright.
The Rams clear much-needed cap space to address other positions of need, including wide receiver with a Cooper Kupp trade pending.
