Usually, this kind of dramatic reaction has social media making all kinds of jokes, but everyone loves it.
“How can you not be romantic about college football?” said one comment.
“Gotta love that for them. Get hype!” said another.
“Vanderbilt fans—moments like this mean everything!” continued a third.
“Wow, happy for Vandy fans,” added a fourth.
Going into the game, Vanderbilt was a huge underdog, and a win like this makes the season feel like a success no matter how it ends. The team improved to 3-2 while Alabama suffered its first-season loss.
You can bet that this game will end as one of the best games in Vanderbilt football history, and the celebration is just beginning.
It Was A Game No Vanderbilt Fan Will Forget
There are so many reasons why this Vanderbilt win was a big deal for the program. For starters, it was the first time in school history that the team beat a No. 1 ranked opponent.
Overall, Alabama held the most wins in the matchup history, going 63-18-4. Vanderbilt also hadn’t beaten the Crimson Tide in 23 straight games, with the last win in 1984.
Of course, though, that all changed today and could have serious implications for the college football playoffs.
