Hurricane Milton left a lot of damage behind in its wake. It can be hard to describe, but a video showing Tropicana Field after it is over gives a great perspective
The roof of Tropicana is domed in and is made of Teflon-coated fiberglass. Of course, that’s not as solid as many other roofs in a domed stadium, and that becomes obvious when you see what the high winds did to it.
When winds reached 115 miles per hour, it started ripping major holes in the roof, leaving it on the field below.
A TikToker recently got to go into the stadium and video the extent of the damage.
Pieces of the roof are scattered all over the field, bleachers, and netting. Luckily, the filmer stayed in a tunnel leading out to the seats because pieces were still falling from the roof, which could have caused major injuries.
This might be the first post-hurricane video we’ve seen from someone inside Tropicana Field

What’s even crazier about this situation is that first responders were using the field as a base camp, and just days after setting up, the roof started to fall apart
Tropicana was already considered one of the most outdated ballparks in MLB and will certainly have to go under some serious renovation.
Tropicana Field Is Now Considered Worst MLB Ballpark
Tropicana Field has continuously been named one of the worst Ballparks in Major League Baseball. Both USA Today and Bleacher Report put it at No. 29 out of 30 just before the Oakland Coliseum.
Of course, the Athletics have moved from the Coliseum to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, meaning the home of the Tampa Bay Rays would take over the “worst stadium” title.
Tampa Bay also had the third-worst MLB attendance in 2024, getting just 16,515 attendees on
