It’s hard for the entire internet to take anything seriously. Come to think of it, it’s probably never happened before.
Not even the attempt on Donald Trump’s life was jarring enough to get social media to stop fooling around.
The former United States President survived an assassination attempt on Saturday, with someone taking shots at him while he was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was injured, with a bullet ripping through his right ear, but remained defiant as he left the stage, pumping his fist at the crowd and asking them to fight.
Of course, this is as serious as it gets, especially as a spectator was killed. But not everyone saw it that way as jokes and memes began flooding social media shortly after, with many of them sports-related.

Who Tried To Assassinate Donald Trump?
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s would-be assassin has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a registered Republican with no criminal record or military background.
The high school Crooks attended has since released a statement.
“Bethel Park School district can confirm that the alleged shooter in the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on former President Donald J Trump is a graduate of Bethel Park High School,” they said, per CBS.
“The school district wishes to express its sincere wishes for a speedy and full recovery for Mr Trump and for those in attendance at the Saturday event who may have been physically harmed or emotionally impacted by these tragic events.”
The 20-year-old, who hails from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was said to have been positioned on a rooftop around 150 yards from the rally site. An AR-style rifle was found on the roof after Crooks was killed by a Secret Service sniper.
The FBI says the investigation into the attempt on Donald Trump’s life remains open and active. They have urged anyone with information to come forward.
