Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones raised some eyebrows after making a strange claim about his newest hire.
On Monday, Jones sat in front of reporters to introduce his newest head coach, former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who was appointed late last week to replace Mike McCarthy.
Brian, the son of late former NFL HC Marty Schottenheimer, has never been a head coach before, but he has been around plenty of them, something Jones feels is valuable, especially at his age.
“Let me share something with you. With all of that, you just heard him reference his osmosis, his family, anybody in this room that doesn’t believe the apple doesn’t go far from the tree has missed it someplace down the road, especially if there was an effort to make it that way, and there was an effort,” Jones told reporters, per USA Today.
In an effort to further explain that Schottenheimer’s exposure made him the ideal candidate, Jones said he liked the new coach’s “package.”
“How often do you have a chance to take advantage of all of that at 50 years old, which is a puppy?” he asked. “Yet he’s had 25 years being around the kinds of things he’s going to draw from. “I like his package. I like that experience.”
Jerry Jones’ “Package” Comment Didn’t Take Long To Hit Social Media
The comment wasn’t lost on fans, who, as you would expect, took to social media to discuss it.
“I like his package” was not on my Jerry bingo card for this press conference,” one joked.
“Jerry Jones: I like his package. Pause,” said another.

“Jerry Jones literally just said “I like his package” twice in regard to Brian Schottenheimer,” noted a third.
“I like his package” – Jerry jones. Freaky ahh boy,” someone else commented.
This comes just a few months after Jones was caught on Jamie Foxx’s stream speaking about his players’ manhood sizes.
Foxx, who wasn’t expecting Jones to suddenly begin discussing reproductive organs, shut the stream down abruptly, but not before the internet caught Jerry’s bizarre player rubric and made it viral.
Another owner would have probably gotten away with such a statement, but the 82-year-old now has some history.
